It’s always a fun evening when I get together with a group of friends to try a place that we’ve all been dying to go to. Such was it on a warm summer night when a bunch of girlfriends (plus a pup friend) and I got together to test out the new (old) cool kid in town, La Fontaine de Belleville.
From the owners of Belleville Brûlerie (great roaster created by three of Paris’ top coffee guys), Fontaine de Belleville is in the heart of the cool 10th arrodissement right by Ten Belles, Myrthe and that cool mural you may have seen on Instagram somewhere (i.e. here). It’s actually a cafe that had been operating since 1915 and was given a little facelift by the Belleville owners who have adapted the space for a more modern crowd. Cool, right?!
Over some beers, since it’s also the type of cool bar that serves awesome craft beer by Deck & Donohue (have I said cool enough?), we chatted the evening away and partook in some tasty planches of charcuterie and cheese that, though basic, were delicious and just what the evening called for.
Fontaine closes at an early 10 pm so we left earlier than we probably wanted to and I have the sneaking suspicion it’s the kind of place that would be perfect for lunch or even breakfast. I’ll have to test out that theory another day… For now, here’s where to go to join all the other cool kids sitting on the sidewalk under the blue awning.
